Back in 2009/2010, Toyota was getting reports of stuck accelerators and bad floor mats causing people to lose control of their car and crash. There is nothing more scary than a car accelerating by itself and not stopping! The recall worldwide costed Toyota about 2 billion, and in late 2010 their sales were flat when other companies continued to rise. The problems were the etc (electronic throttle control) glitching out, sticky gas pedals, and bad fitting floor mats that accidentally catch the gas pedal, blocking it from returning to the neutral position. Toyota faced lawsuits and it did affect their reputation and sales. Since that situation, Toyota hasn't had any problems and has gained back respect.
Bands will make you money. Having a brand that gets more attention then others will get you more money. Its based around Targeting a curtain target market. With tobacco they would want to put there brands in the places with the most tobacco sales.
The article that I read is that Nike is #1 and Under Armor is the #2 sport brand. This article is about how Under Armor is going to put there product in India to raise there sales and get it a crossed the world to make them the #1 sports brand. This is very interesting because it is showing how all the other brands are trying to become better than Nike. They are trying to make there brand become better by putting it everywhere like Nike is.
Brands make you money. Having the best brand gets you the most money. Nike targets athletes and ford and Chevy target more of the country type. It is all about who you target and your brand.
